Raglan topslide

Another adaption of George Thomas’s topslide design. I avoided having to cut a left hand leadscrew by cutting down a Boxford cross slide one. I cut the gears in cast iron, fitted thrust bearings and milled out the inside of the topslide to get the longest travel possible

The topslide tucks in nicely next to the tailstock now:

The ball handle is also pitched up high enough to clear the cross slide handle:

So, if I ever get around to making that taper turning attachment, I’ll be able to use the topslide to set the depth of cut

The gib strip is dowelled a la George Thomas, and fitted with a lock:
